Rick and Renda Aiken

Founders and former owners of The Country Cookin' Band and Show

In 1995 Rick and Renda Aiken, founded the Country Cookin' Band and gave start to Kentucky's Number One Country Music Venue. The duo team started selecting the right combination of musicians, singers while putting together the best band and show in the Kentucky area. Rick with his quick response comedy, and Renda with her ability to touch everyone's heart, gave them the leading edge that made the show very different from any venue in the area. They continued operating the Show with major success for over 11 years.

In 2004 Renda began having health issues that would soon take its toll on her body. She had to take time off for surgeries while having a very difficult time from then on. Rick managed to keep the show running while working a full time job at Ford, while being a Father, being a Husband, and being a Band Leader. It was a very difficult time but these two kept it in a number one position through all of the troubles and trials of running a top notch Show. Renda, even when she wasn't at the show, was always promoting, laying out show arrangements, booking, guests, and keeping up all the paper work etc.

In 2006 Rick was offered a staff piano job at the World Famous Renfro Valley Country Music Show. They both debated deeply over having to make the decision of leaving the show that they had created and loved for so many years. With Renda's current health status, and Rick fixing to retire from Ford, the two made the decision to move back to their home town, Murphy, North Carolina, retire from Ford, and take the new job. At this point the question was: (What were they going to do with the show and the Country Cookin' Band?) This is something they gave some serious thought to. They could not just end The Band and The Show. They had too many friends and supporters to just to walk out on it!

At that time Rick and Renda asked Kevin Grissom if he would be interested in taking over the Show, carrying on the tradition, and keeping the Country Cookin' Band alive and well. He said : "It Would be an honor"! The Show and Band continues on as the Number One Family Music Showplace. Located in West Point, Kentucky

In May of 2010 Kricket Atwood became the newest owner and producer of the show and The Country Cookin' Band. Kevin Grissom also accepted a position at Renfro Valley providing the opportunity for Kricket to step up and apply her years of experience in music and retail business.
